My experience at UAS Grisons has been life changing in the best way! I have met people from around the world and have become immersed in the natural beauty of Chur.
Located in the canton of Grisons, Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland and the old town is just as beautiful as the pictures. Additionally, the city is perfect for avid skiers, snowboarders, hikers and mountain bikers. Asides from the ski hill located right in Chur, Arosa-Lenzerheide is only 20-30 minutes bus holds some of the best slopes in the Alps.
UAS Grisons has been an amazing learning experience for me. At my homeschool, lessons tend to be more theoretical; however, UAS Grisons gives a hands-on experience to the hospitality and tourism industry. Classes were interactive and class discussions were encouraged among professors. My favorite course I took were two block week courses (condensed courses into a week), Health Tourism and Leisure Management. I found that the professors of these courses were excited about teaching which in turn, made me excited about the coursework. Additionally, the exchange office was incredibly supportive and kind during the whole transition to Chur and during the semester.
I lived in Konvikt Student Residence during the semester and enjoyed it so much. The residence was amazing because I got to live with fellow exchange students split amongst two floors. The staff at Konvikt were extremely kind-hearted and really made you feel at home. Additionally, breakfast and dinner were supplied for us which was very convenient and the facilities in Konvikt were beautiful and newly renovated.
Overall, I had the best time and, in the end, found it hard to leave. I would recommend exchange at FHGR to anyone who is looking to explore Switzerland, have unique class experiences and meet friends from around the world.
